What people in Cork type when they need an electrician
We pulled the searches Google suggests for electricians in Cork. Some are urgent, like a dead socket or no power. Others are planned weeks ahead, like a rewire, an EV charger or solar panels. These are real examples:
Google’s suggestions on 25 October 2026. “Auto electrician cork” came up too. That’s a different trade, which repairs car electrics.

| They search with | What to add |
|---|---|
| “cork city”, “residential”, “domestic”, “commercial” | Say who you work for on your Cork page: homes, landlords, shops or offices. Give each its own section. |
| “prices”, “cost”, “call out fee” | “From” prices and your call-out fee. People also ask Google what an electrician charges per hour in Ireland, so answer that too. |
| “reviews”, “reddit” | Recent Google reviews that name the job. Some people ask strangers online, so your reviews need to be easy to find and recent. |
| “24 hour”, “emergency” | Your real hours on your profile. For “emergency electrician cork”, all three on the map showed as open 24 hours. |
| “registered” | Your Safe Electric registration, on your website and your Google profile. |
| “rewire”, “fuse board”, “ev charger”, “solar” | A page for each job, with photos of real ones and a “from” price |
| Ballincollig, Douglas, Carrigaline and other towns | A service area that covers them, and a town page only where you have real jobs |
| “auto electrician” | Nothing. It’s not your search. Keep your categories to house and business electrical work, so Google doesn’t mix you up. |
EV chargers are won on your website. On Google Maps, “ev charger installation cork” showed ten public charging points. The only installer on screen was a paid ad. So the customer who wants a home charger finds you in Google’s normal results, on a page about EV charger installation in Cork.

On the results page for “electrician cork”, Google’s “People also ask” box had three questions. How much does an electrician charge per hour in Ireland? What’s a reasonable day rate? How can I check an electrician is qualified? Answer all three on your own site.
Ballincollig, Douglas, Carrigaline, Glanmire and Blarney: being close beats reviews
We searched “electrician” with each town and “Co. Cork”. These are the reviews held by the three electricians on the map, in order.
| Where | The three on the map | First place had a website |
|---|---|---|
| Cork city | 274, 159, 333 | Yes |
| Ballincollig | 13, 0, 3 | Yes |
| Douglas | 17, 274, 159 | No |
| Carrigaline | 78, 4, 113 | Yes |
| Glanmire | 5, 274, 333 | No |
| Blarney | 0, 25, 48 | No |
Checked on 25 October 2026, signed out of Google. Business names left out.
- The city’s leaders fade in the townsIn Ballincollig, the firms first and second for “electrician cork” came sixth and seventh.
- A local firm takes first placeIn Douglas and Glanmire, an electrician with 17 and 5 reviews came first. The city’s big names came after them.
- Other trades slip inIn Carrigaline, third place went to an auto electrician with 113 reviews.

What it means: a city address won’t win you the towns. Google’s map leans hard on distance. Set a service area that matches the towns you really drive to. Our guide to a Google Business Profile without a shopfront shows how.
Then give a town its own page only when you have work to show there. A rewire in Ballincollig, with photos and a review that names the town, does more than a line saying you cover it.
Don’t paste every town and townland into your footer. Google’s spam policies name “blocks of text that list cities and regions” as keyword stuffing.
Show your Safe Electric registration where Cork customers look
Cork customers check before they let you in. “Registered electricians cork city” is one of Google’s suggestions. On the results page, people ask how to check an electrician is qualified.
The CRU tells homeowners to always use a Registered Electrical Contractor, and to find one on Safe Electric. Many people still search “RECI”, the register’s older name.

On page one for “electrician cork”, 4 of the 7 electricians’ websites put Safe Electric in the text Google shows. Two also said they were SEAI approved.
- In your page titles and descriptionsThat’s the text people read on Google before they click. Say you’re Safe Electric registered there, on your home page and your Cork page.
- On your Google profileMention it in your description and in a post. One of Cork’s top three did exactly that this week, as below.
- On every page of your websitePut your registration in the footer, next to your phone number.
- On solar quotesSEAI asks for the Safe Electric certificate with the payment paperwork for its solar grant. Tell customers you handle it.

Our page on SEO for electricians also covers the Completion Certificate, and why careful customers look for it.
Your Cork page: what to put on it
Most planned work comes from your website, not the map. Build one Cork page that answers what people search. Then add a page for each big job.
Rewires and fuse boards
People search “house rewire cork” and “rewire cost ireland”. Show a rewire you did in Cork, how long it took and a “from” price. Mention the Completion Certificate.
EV chargers
SEAI’s home charger grant is up to €300. Show a charger you fitted and give a price range. The map won’t send you this work. Your page will.
Solar panels
SEAI pays up to €1,800 towards solar panels, plus a separate €600 battery grant. The home must have been built and occupied before 2025. People search “solar panels cork prices” and “solar panels cork quote”, so give both.
Small jobs and emergencies
Electric showers, sockets, switches, smoke alarms and trip switches. “Small jobs”, “switches” and “socket replacement” are review topics on Cork’s top listings. Give your call-out fee and your real hours.
Add photos of real Cork jobs, with the customer’s OK. Name the area, not the street. Our guide on how to write a service page that ranks shows the layout.
For Cork research beyond electricians, see our research and guides for Cork businesses.
Reviews that name the job and the area
Google reads your reviews. On Cork’s top listings, it pulled out topics like “full rewire”, “fuse box repair”, “power restoration” and “quick response”. It shows them as buttons above the reviews.

Those words come from customers, not the business. So make the job easy to mention. When you ask for a review, remind them what you did and where: “Thanks for having us rewire your house in Douglas.”
Reply to every review. On the top listings, the owners had replied to most of the reviews Google showed first.

Something else on your mind? Email info@leadsireland.com.
How many Google reviews does an electrician need to rank in Cork?
In Cork city, the middle of the three on the map had 274 on 25 October 2026. In the towns, it’s far lower. First place in Ballincollig, Glanmire and Blarney had 13, 5 and 0. Start with the town you’re based in.
Can a Cork city electrician show up in Ballincollig or Blarney?
Not easily. In Ballincollig, the firms first and second for “electrician cork” came sixth and seventh. In all five towns we checked, first place went to an electrician outside the city’s top three. Set a service area for the towns you cover, and build town pages where you have real jobs.
Should I put “Cork” in my business name on Google?
Only if it’s your real name, as on your signage and paperwork. Four of the top ten in Cork had “Cork” and a trade word in their name. But Google’s rules don’t allow extra keywords, and profiles that add them can be suspended. Put Cork in your service area, description and website instead.
Do I need a website to rank on Google Maps in Cork?
Not always. First place in Douglas, Glanmire and Blarney had no website. But all ten electricians in the top ten for “electrician cork” had one. You also need one to win planned work, like EV chargers and solar panels.
How do I show up for “EV charger installation Cork”?
With a page on your website. On Google Maps, that search showed public charging points, and the only installer was a paid ad. Build a page for EV charger installation in Cork. Mention the SEAI grant of up to €300, your Safe Electric registration and chargers you’ve fitted.
How long does it take to rank as an electrician in Cork?
Fixes to your Google profile and website start in week 1. On an established site, leads usually pick up within about a month. On a new site, allow two to three months. The map moves daily, so judge it over weeks, not days.
