The short answer
People search “boiler service” with their town, and most of those searches come between September and November. So be visible before September.
Put your price and your RGI number (or OFTEC registration for oil) on your website. Text last year’s customers who agreed to hear from you. Post on your Google profile that you’re booking services. Ask for reviews that name the job and the town. Then add a small Google Ads budget for October and November.
When people search for a boiler service in Ireland
Boiler services are seasonal. We pulled five years of Google Trends data for “boiler service” in Ireland and averaged each month.

November averaged 61. May averaged 22. That’s nearly three times the searches. The climb starts in late August, when people think about the heating coming on. January stays busy too, with breakdowns in the cold.
What it means: your Google profile, your boiler service page and your reviews need to be in place by the end of August. A page built in October is late. Google takes weeks to find and trust a new page.

We checked “boiler service” in 14 towns: who made the top three
On 25 October 2026, we searched “boiler service” plus the town on Google Maps, signed out of Google. We noted the top three businesses that weren’t ads. Then we checked their websites. We describe the businesses but don’t name them.

- Small towns, low barIn Tralee, first place had 2 reviews. In Athlone, only two businesses showed at all, and one had none.
- Oil specialists win the rural townsOil boiler and burner firms made the top three in Galway, Kilkenny, Athlone, Letterkenny and Mullingar.
- Ads take the first spot in some citiesIn Dublin and Waterford, the first listing on the map was an ad. In Dublin, it came from a firm listed as an internet marketing service, not a heating firm.
- Not everyone has a website10 of the 41 top-three businesses had no website link. 3 more linked to Facebook or a directory page instead of their own site.
- Names that stuff keywords14 of the 41 had “boiler” in their name. One Sligo listing’s name was a list of five services. Google’s rules for business names only allow your real name, and profiles that add keywords can be suspended. If that’s happened to you, our free Profile Rescue Kit shows how to get it back.
- Not always a boiler firmIn Thurles, first place went to a heat pump service firm. Our page on SEO in Thurles has our results for 35 searches there. In Tralee, a heating and bathroom showroom made the three.

What people type when they want a boiler service
We pulled Google’s suggestions in Ireland. People add the town, the fuel, the word “prices” or the make of their boiler. These are real examples:
Google’s suggestions for Ireland on 25 October 2026. In Google Trends, “oil burner service near me” and “book boiler service” were rising searches.
| They search with | What to add |
|---|---|
| The town, or “near me” | A service area that covers the towns you drive to, and a boiler service page that names your area. Town pages only where you have real jobs. |
| “prices”, “cost” | Your price, in text, on your boiler service page and in the services on your Google profile. Say what’s included. |
| “oil boiler”, “oil burner” | Both phrases on your page and profile. Many rural customers call the oil boiler a “burner”. |
| “gas boiler”, “rgi”, “registered” | Your RGI number, in text, on every page. |
| “grant”, “firebird”, “vokera”, “ideal” | The makes you service. People search the name on the front of their boiler. |
| “book”, “online” | A booking link or form, and the same link on your Google profile. |
| “bord gais”, “electric ireland”, “energia” | Nothing to copy. These big suppliers sell boiler services too, so compete with a clear price and local reviews. |
Big names are in the mix. On page one for “boiler service ireland”, Bord Gáis Energy and Energia were selling boiler services. In April 2024, SSE Airtricity stopped offering gas boiler services in the Republic and pointed its customers to registered installers. Those homes still need a service every year.
A boiler maker’s “local installers” page also ranked on page one. If a brand accredits you, ask to be listed on its site.
Gas or oil: show the right registration
More Irish homes heat with oil than gas. In Census 2022, 39% of homes used oil as their main central heating and 33% used natural gas. So say clearly which you service.
Gas boilers: your RGI number
Only a Registered Gas Installer may service a gas boiler. The RGI says it’s illegal for anyone else to do it, and that a gas boiler needs a service once a year. Show your RGI number, in text, on your website and Google profile. On the register, numbers are an R and four digits.
Oil boilers: OFTEC
Oil has its own scheme. OFTEC registers oil heating technicians in the Republic as well as the UK. If you’re registered, say so in text. Use the words people search: “oil boiler service” and “oil burner service”.

Check your register listing shows “Boiler Servicing”. Customers use that filter. But 86 installers in Cork share one register, and Google Maps shows three. The rest of this guide is about being one of the three.
Your boiler service page: price and registration in text
Customers compare. The RGI tells them to contact at least three installers and compare cost, quality and service. And Google’s first question for “boiler service ireland” is about price.

We opened the websites of the businesses in the top three. Of the 24 sites that loaded, 3 showed a price for a boiler service. They were an oil boiler service from €59 in Dublin, a gas service at €90 in Kilkenny and a gas service from €115 in Cork.
10 of the 24 mentioned RGI. None showed an RGI number in the page text. Some may show it in a logo, but a picture isn’t text Google can read. 6 mentioned OFTEC.
Your price
A “from” price for gas and for oil, and what changes it. People search “prices”, so answer it before they ask.
What’s included
The checks you do, the paperwork they get and how long it takes. People ask Google what a service includes.
Your registration
Your RGI number or OFTEC registration, in text. Put it in your footer too, next to your phone number.
Where you cover
Name your base and the area you drive to, in a sentence. Don’t paste a list of towns. Google’s spam policies count that as keyword stuffing.
The makes you service
Grant, Firebird, Worcester Bosch, Vokera, Ideal. List the ones you really work on.
A way to book
A phone number that gets answered and a booking form. Add the same booking link to your Google profile.
Our guide on how to write a service page that ranks shows the layout.
Text last year’s customers before the rush
Your easiest bookings are people you serviced last year. A reminder text in September fills your diary before searches peak. Do it within the rules.
- Your own service, like the one they hadYou can text an existing customer about the same kind of service you did for them.
- A way to say no, at the start and in every textWhen you take their number, tell them they can opt out. Then end every text with “Reply STOP to opt out”.
- Within 12 months of the jobThe first marketing text must go within 12 months of the sale. An annual service reminder fits that.
These rules come from Ireland’s ePrivacy Regulations, and they cover texts as well as emails. The Data Protection Commission explains them. The simplest habit: at the job, ask “Can we text you next year when your service is due?” and note the answer.
Send it only to customers who agreed to hear from you, within 12 months of their last service. Keep it to one text: 160 characters, or 70 if it has letters like á or é.
Tell Google you’re booking now
Posts show on your Google profile. A short weekly post from September tells people you have slots, and keeps your profile active.
Booking boiler services in [your town] now. Gas and oil. RGI registered. From €[price]. Call [number] or book online.
Add your services to your profile too, with prices: “Gas boiler service”, “Oil boiler service”, “Oil burner service”. Then check your main category. The firms we checked used categories like Plumber, Heating contractor and Gas installation service. Our guide on choosing your Google Business Profile category explains the choice.
Most boiler engineers work from a van, not a shop. If customers don’t come to you, hide your address and set a service area. Our guide to a Google Business Profile without a shopfront shows how.
Reviews that mention the service and the town
Google reads your reviews and pulls out topics. It shows them as buttons above the reviews.

Those words come from customers, not the business. So make the job easy to mention. When you ask for a review, remind them what you did and where: “Thanks for having us service your oil boiler in Mullingar.”
Don’t write the review for them, and don’t offer anything in return. Reply to every review you get.

A small Google Ads budget for October and November
That’s when people book, so that’s when ads pay. In Dublin and Waterford, the first listing on Google Maps was already an ad.
- Keywords“boiler service [town]”, “oil burner service [town]” and “gas boiler service [town] prices”.
- LocationsOnly the towns you really cover.
- Landing pageYour boiler service page with the price, not your home page.
- Negative keywords“course”, “jobs”, “UK” and “British Gas”. Google suggests all of these with boiler service searches, and those people aren’t your customers.
Google’s Local Services Ads list heating (HVAC) and plumbers as categories for Ireland. You pay per lead, not per click. Check if they’re open for your area.

Fill the quiet months
Searches bottom out in May and June, at about a third of November’s level. That’s the time to book services in, not to wait.
SEAI tells homeowners that servicing in summer can save at least 5% on heating later in the year. Use that in a summer offer to last year’s customers. One Cork firm’s discounted service offer was marked sold out on its website when we checked.

Getting more boiler service customers: questions people ask
Something else on your mind? Email info@leadsireland.com.
When do people search for a boiler service in Ireland?
Mostly from September to November. Over five years of Google Trends data, November had nearly three times the searches of May. The climb starts in late August, so have your Google profile and website ready by then.
How many Google reviews do I need to show up for “boiler service” in my town?
Fewer than you’d think outside the cities. In 10 of the 14 towns we checked on 25 October 2026, a firm with under 20 reviews made the top three. In Dublin and Galway, the middle firm had over 150.
Should I put my boiler service price on my website?
Yes. People search “boiler service cork prices”, and Google’s top question for “boiler service ireland” is what a service costs. Only 3 of the 24 top-three websites we checked showed a service price.
Can I text last year’s customers to remind them their service is due?
Yes, if you follow the rules for existing customers. The text must be about your own similar service. They must have been offered an opt-out when you took their number, and in every text. And the first text must go within 12 months of the job. If in doubt, ask for permission at the job.
Do I need to show my RGI number?
Gas customers look for it, and only a Registered Gas Installer may service a gas boiler. 10 of the 24 top-three websites mentioned RGI, but none showed the number in text. Put it on your boiler service page and in your footer.
What about oil boilers?
More Irish homes heat with oil than gas: 39% against 33% in Census 2022. Use “oil boiler service” and “oil burner service” on your profile and website, and show your OFTEC registration if you have it.
Should I use Google Ads for boiler services?
A small budget in October and November can pay, because that’s when people book. In Dublin and Waterford, the first listing on the map was an ad. Target only your towns and send clicks to a page with your price.
